Normally Meta means “data about data”. If we talk about what is Meta tags then we can say that it is a piece of code that tells the search engine about the site. Or you can say also it tells the search engine crawler the structure of the page.

Here we will tell you about 6 SEO Meta tags that can improve your website ranking in Google SERP. So let’s check these important Meta tags.
The first important Meta tag is the title tag. As we told in our previous posts if you read those posts the title is very important for SEO purposes. Your post decides whether it will rank or not in search engines like Google or Bing. Apart from this it also decides the number of clicks on your website link.
Do you know where the title tag is visible??? Confused!!! Don’t worry I’ll tell you where your title tag appears. Our post title tag appears in Google SERP, web browsers, and social networks.
So make sure that your title should be attractive and catchy. If you don’t know how to make a title attractive then please read my post “how to make a title attractive and fresh”. Your title tag length should be between 50-70 chars but the perfect length is 55 chars.
The second important meta tag is our post meta description. Yes, it also plays a very important role in website ranking. Your meta description should be clear so that the user can understand what is in the post. Your focus keyword should be present in the meta description. If we talk about the Meta description length then it should be 150-170 chars. But if you are using the YOAST SEO tool then it gives you 155-165 chars for presenting your meta description.
Robots Meta tags
Robots meta tag tell the search engine that which page should be crawled or not. If you are thinking that I am talking about Robots.txt file then you are wrong because both are different. You can check the difference between Robots.txt and Robots Meta tag.
Basically Robots.txt file is use for a whole website or category but robots Meta tags are used for particular page or post.
Here you will get different properties like index, no index, follow, no follow, DP, no DP, and much more. Whenever you post any article make sure to check its robots meta tag because if it’s property set as no index then that post will not crawled by the search engine bots.
You can check or set your meta tag file for any page by the given statement.

This is another meta tag which is very important in SEO. Alt tag is used for images. This is helpful when your image loading time is more. Then in the place of image there is a bland box visible and then alt tag is show on that box. This tag tells about the image so that bot and user can understand what images is that.
As we know that a website is open by 4-5 URL. Means, you can open any website by typing different URLs. For example, my website URL is https://www.akblog360.com but if user type the anyone of the given URL then my website is also open.
So here you can see you can open my website by typing anyone of the URLs given above. But the problem is when I check my Google Search Console for my website traffic then it is not showing the right result because for search engine all these URLs are different. So here we use canonical tag. With canonical tag we tell the search engine that all the URLs are same or denoting the same website. The purpose of canonical tag is collecting the link juice.
If you are using blogger then you don’t need to fix this because in blogger it is automatically set. But in WordPress you need to fix this. The statement of canonical tag is given below.

On the other hand, we can say that when our two posts rank for same content then we use canonical tag. Using this we tell the search engine which post is main and apart from this we prevent our site from duplicate content issues.
Header tag or heading is one of the major part which impact your SEO. Headings are useful for understanding the article structure. We have 6 headings like heading 1, heading 2, … heading 6. All these heading is use for different manner. Use your keyword in headings for getting more benefits so that you can easily ranked on search engine like Google or Bing.
